GROUP TRAINING
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
MEASUREMENT AND UNCERTAINTY This module will enable you to use the methods for uncertainty analysis in order to correctly exploit measurement data and to identify appropriate improvement actions.
On Demand
OBJECTIVES
• To learn how to use the tools for measurement uncertainty calculation and analysis and apply them to experimental data • To use measurements taking into account their uncertainty so as to present them robustly • To identify appropriate improvements to decrease measurement error
PARTICIPANTS
Researchers - Technicians in charge of experimental data analysis
PROGRAMME
• The concept of error: components and modeling • Uncertainty: modes of evaluation, expanded uncertainty, standard deviation, confidence interval • R&R method (repeatability & reproducibility): principle and application to an example • Using results: rounding, graphics and error bars • Diagnosis: analysing error to identify possible ways to reduce it Teaching techniques: a number of exercises will be given for each chapter in order to illustrate the methods presented. Excel will be used for all data analysis
Organization
• 1 day • Face-to-face session • 15 participants • Attendance sheets and online course evaluation form
Language: english or french
